“Lynchpin” by Lynn Deboeck
In the fall of 2018, Dr. Deboeck directed and staged her original play, then called “The Lynchpin Life” (now called simply “Lynchpin”) in Dr. Kimberly Mangun’s journalism course. The play is a conversation across time between African American journalist and anti-lynching crusader Ida B. Wells, and a contemporary Black woman and Black Lives Matter activist. The performance was nominated and included in the 10th Annual Edward Lewis Festival in February of 2019. (For more information about Edward Lewis and his African American theatre company, go here.)
